Adding Animation to Your Home Page

When you have finished this project, you will be able to:
use a graphic program
download and use an animated icon
add movement to your web page
create your own animated graphic

describe the following terms:

  • animation

  1. The easiest method of using an animated graphic is to download it from the Internet. Go to Icon Bazaar and then to the animated icons section. Download two animated icons.

  2. Add the animated icons to your web page the same way you added graphics – using the IMG SRC tag.

  3. Once you have added the animated icons, ask your teacher to view your page on your workstation.

    Creating Your Own Animation

  4. Another method of adding animation to your web page is to use a drawing program to create individual files or "frames" of the animation, then use another program to link the frames into an animation. Use PaintShop Pro to create an animation. You must include an animation that you have created on your page.

  5. To learn how to create an animation of your own, click here.

  6. At this point, you need to have your Web page marked. It must contain all of the tags that you have written to this point.

  7. Click here to see the marking guide for this project.

  8. Save the project folder in your "Hand In" folder on your personal disk space so that this project can be graded.

  9. The next project is to create a second home page using the knowledge and skills you have learned so far.
