Using an Alpha Tween

When you have finished this project, you will be able to:
describe an Alpha Tween
create an Alpha Tween
  1. Create a new folder called Flash Alpha on your personal drive space. Save everything to do with this project in that folder.

  2. Start a new project in Flash.

  3. Set the frame speed to 24 and the movie size to 400 by 400 pixels.

  4. Create a black ball and convert it to a symbol.

  5. Name the layer Black Ball.

  6. Insert a key frame at frame 48.

  7. Create a motion tween between frame 1 and frame 48. The ball will not move because you have left it in the same place.

  8. Right click on the Black Ball symbol to open the Symbol Properties window. Select Properties . . . .

  9. The Instance Properties window will open. Select the Color Effect tab.

  10. In the Color Effect box, select alpha.

  11. Set the Alpha slider to 0.

  12. Click the OK button.

  13. Save your project as Flash Alpha and play the movie. The black ball should start out invisible and morph to black as shown in the example below:

  14. It is possible to combine the effects you have learned so far; for example, you can combine a motion tween with an alpha tween to create a symbol that will fade in as it moves across the screen.

  15. Create a project that combines the effects that you have learned so far. Your teacher will be looking for creativity and originality.

  16. Click here to see the marking guide for this project.

  17. Save the project folder in your "Hand In" folder on your personal disk space so that this project can be graded...
