Electromagnetic Induction (Generator Effect)

Electric Generator applet
This Java applet simulates a generator which is reduced to the most important parts for clarity. Instead of an armature with many windings and iron nucleus there is only a single rectangular conductor loop; the axis the loop rotates on is omitted.

The Electric Generator
This site describes the function and operation of the electric generator. An image of generator included.

Induced Current applet
This applet allow you to change the shape of a loop of wire in a magnetic field and induce a current in a wire. JavaPhysMath Applets

Nikola Tesla: The Forgotten Father of Technology
This site explains the life of Nikola Tesla, his invention of the alternating-current motor, and how this world forgot him and his contibutions. There are pictures and links to Tesla and his work as well as other sites about him

Museum of Nikola Tesla (Neat but outside the course)
This site gives an interesting tour, complete with pictures and sound on the life of Nikola Tesla. Information is presented about his discoveries and achievements. It provides good background and is an interesting read.
Tesla Coil Pictures
Tesla coils are air-core, resonant transformers. Working at high frequencies, they can generate tremendous voltages with spectacular lightning-like discharges.
